REGISTER

The first thing to do is register. Pick an appropriate user name, that’s how your fellow DMN members will know you, and choose a password you won’t forget.

CREATE YOUR PROFILE

Your profile is your personal space in the DMN community to promote yourself and your talents. It will be viewed by your fellow members looking for project partners, so it’s very important to put as much information in your profile as possible. But don’t forget you can always edit this information at any time if you wish to add or change anything.

Personal Data

Anything you enter here will appear in your profile. The only fields you must enter are your first and last name. There’s also a field for your website, another opportunity to promote yourself.

Dashboard

An important part of your profile is the Dashboard which enables you to manage all your activities on DMN. It enables you to contact members, manage your projects, project requests and much more.

CONNECT

You’ve created your profile and now is the time to explore what DMN can offer you and connect with your fellow members.

Search the Members Page

Searching by Tags will list the Members who have similar musical styles to yourself. Searching by Profile will expose you to the diversity of styles reflected by the diversity of the DMN Membership.

Search Members

Select A Member of Interest

Once you find a member whose work interests you, connect with them by sending a message. You may be interested in working with them or to understand some of their production techniques.

COLLABORATE

The next step is working on a project with your new found partners. You can either work on a fellow member’s project or start your own.

Search the Projects Page

Search Projects

In the same way you searched for Members you can do the same with Projects, by style or Project. Explore the projects available until you find one of interest.

Select a Project of Interest

You may find a project that needs your specific talents, or by listening to the demo tracks you might have some ideas you wish to contribute. In either case make a request to join the project and start a dialogue with the project owner.

Search Wanted Page

Search Wanted

The Wanted Page displays all the currently available Job Offers which are updated constantly. However you may want to start your own project. Create A Project (A tutorial on creating a project can be found here) You can start a project from your Dashboard. Go to “My Projects” and “Start Project”

Start Project Panel

Start Project

You can describe all the details of your project, upload an image as a project profile, invite members to join the project, upload some demo tracks and write a Job Offer to post to the Wanted Page.

PRODUCE

The next step is to start production on your project with your project partners. Charlie Steinberg, the creative vision behind DMN, has developed a unique application – the DM- Container. It is a fully functional sequencer and multi-track recorder with the added benefit of being able to record projects with other musicians, on and offline, with a standard internet connection. Just think of the DM-Container as a multi-track machine that other users can connect to with a broadband connection.

The DM-Container Provides:

  • Full Rewire integration with your personal DAW
  • Direct connection to partners and real-time recording via the internet as if you were in the same studio (online collaboration).
  • Video and Chat functionality to directly communicate with your project partners
  • Offline collaboration with partners. Data is saved on a server and updated by other project members when they revisit the project.
  • Performances can be bought or sold via the DM-Recorder.
  • Full integration with the digitalmusician.net website.

(Please refer to the DM-Container manual for more detailed information.
