Tutorial: How To Create A Project Part 1

You can create a project either directly from your dashboard on the digitalmusician.net (DMN) website or from within the DM-Container via "File->Create New Project". The procedure is identical no matter which you choose.

Start Project


  • Log in to the DMN website
  • Select "Projects" from your dashboard
  • Select "My Projects"
  • On the right you will see projects you are working on if any
  • Select "Start Project"

 

Create a project


  • You are now in the "Create Project" Panel.
  • Select the "Required Info" tab.
  • Enter the name of the project.
  • Enter a detailed description of the project.
  • "Genre" shows you various options to describe the musical style of your project. You can select three genres maximum. Select the "+"-button to choose the genres.
  • "Status" selects the status of your project. Choose between "Planning", "In Progress" and "Finished".
  • In the area "Project Flag" you can choose whether your project should be commercial or non-commercial. That means you can offer a budget for the tracks of your partners.
  • Under "Privacy" you can indicate how DMN is managing your project. You are the administrator of the project.
    • "Moderated" means you are able to approve or disapprove requests to join your project. Your project can be reviewed by all DMN members.
    • "Only Invitation" means you must directly invite project members.
    • "Closed means your project is not able to be seen by DMN members and you have complete control over who can join or not.
  • In the "Licence" area you can choose between "No Licence" and "Creative Commons".
    • "No Licence" means your project content can be freely used and modified in any way by the project members, but not for commercial purposes.
    • "Creative Commons" is a standard licensing agreement between you and your project partner. More information can be found in the FAQ on the DMN website.
  • Select "Submit" to load the data and finish the procedure.
  • You can change your details at any time.

 

Image

  • Select the "Image" tab.
  • Browse for a file on your hard drive and then "Upload" and "Save"

 

Invite

  • Select the "Invite" tab
  • Here you can invite to your project.
  • A partner list should appear in the top box
  • Select a partner from the list and he will be registered in the field "User Name".
  • You can register further names of members you want to invite up to a total of ten
  • Under "Personal Message" you can enter a text which everyone will receive.
  • Decide if the Project has a budget so your invitees know up front.
  • Select "Save" to load your data on to the server.


Song Files


  • Select the "Track" tab.
  • Here you can upload an audio file of your song/song idea, to give your partners an idea in which direction you are going.
  • Select "Existing Audio File" to choose an existing audio file you have uploaded to your profile.
  • Select ""Browse" to locate a file on your hard drive and then "Upload".
  • Pro Members can upload up to eight tracks per Project and Free Members can upload three.
  • Under "Title" enter a name for your track.
  • Under "Preview" you are able to look at your project data and change it if you wish.
  • Select "Save" to upload all data and content to the server.
